This seminar will illuminate the OTHER SIDE of the Ukrainian conflict which continues to be ignored by the Norwegian media and European media in general.

Ivan Kopyl is a lawyer and human rights activist based in Donetsk. He will share his first-hand experiences from 2014 and discuss how the resulting referendum was followed by military escalation. The targeting of the civilian population of Eastern Ukraine motivated Ivan to establish “Verum”, an organisation that chronicles witness testimony and investigates war crimes committed by Ukrainian forces.

Pavel Volkov was an Ukrainian journalist from Zaporozhye. He was arrested in 2017 and spent one year in prison because of his reporting on civilian casualties and suffering in Donbass. Pavel will talk about his current work documenting the human rights violations of the Ukrainian government and present some cases which typify the tens of thousands of politically-motivated criminal proceedings.

The seminar is presented by FOR – Fred og Rettferdighet.
Both speakers will connect via a video-link.
