Sentralstyret i FOR registrerer at selv den norske regjeringa har vært nødt til å erkjenne at USAs militære intervensjon som førte til kidnapping av Venezuelas folkerettslig legitime president, Nicolas Maduro, er et brudd på Folkeretten.
I forkant av aggresjonen har Norge søkt å ta en rolle med å forberede opinionen på regimeskifteoperasjonen i Venezuela ved å misbruke Alfreds Nobels testamente til å tildele prisen for 2025 til den høyreekstreme venezuelanske opposisjonslederen Maria Machado.
Nå synes dette arbeidet forgjeves, ettersom Trump ikke levner henne noen ære. Han var uvanlig ærlig da han på sin pressekonferanse lørdag påpekte at Machado ikke har vesentlig folkelig støtte i Venezuela.
I stedet for å installere en marionett, satser USA på å bruke trusselen om naken militær aggresjon til å tvinge Venezuelas ledere til å akseptere USAs krav. Trump sier rett ut at målet er å «ta tilbake» Venezuelas oljeressurser, som tidligere ble kontrollert av amerikanske oljeselskaper.
Skuffelsen er derfor stor i andre vestlige hovedsteder, ikke fordi USA på nytt bryter folkeretten, men fordi det gjøres på en måte som gjør det umulig å opprettholde myten om at dette er noe annet enn nykolonialisme.
Det at Norge og andre vestlige land nå reiser en mild pekefinger mot USAs folkerettsbrudd, vil ikke ha noen effekt på USAs videre framferd. Den som ønsker å bevare Folkeretten, må bidra til å isolere og dermed aktivt svekke USA.
En viktig del av dette er å støtte kampen for å stanse USAs viktigste allierte, Israel, fra å kunne gjennomføre sine folkemorderisk planer om å annektere Palestina.
En internasjonal boikott som fungerer kvelende for Israels økonomi, vil tvinge USA til å ta en enda større del av regninga, og dermed svekke landets muligheter til å opprettholde denne støtten, og til å kunne gjennomføre militær aggresjon i andre deler av verden.
En annen del av dette, er at Norge må slutte med å ta en stor del av regninga for stedfortrederkrigen mot Russland i Ukraina. Gjennom å bruke store deler av Oljefondet til denne krigen, bidrar Norge til å holde en av USAs rivaler på verdensarenaen opptatt. Dette er viktig for at USA har kunnet ta seg til rette med folkerettsstridige angrep på Iran, og nå Venezuela.
Gjennom å fortsatt være alliert med USA gjennom NATO, og gjennom å bidra til en massiv europeisk opprustning rettet mot Russland, bidrar Norge både til at amerikansk våpenindustri tjener store penger, og til at USA kan få fritt rom til å reetablere seg som koloniherre i hele Amerika.
FOR krever derfor at Norge umiddelbart:
- Avvikler alt militærteknologisk samarbeid med USA
- Melder seg ut av NATO
- Innfører total boikott av Israel med totalforbud mot all handel og alle investeringer i Israel
- Stanser all militær bistand til Ukraina
- Gjennomfører kraftige kutt i militærbevilgningene i stedet for opprustning
Stop Norwegian complicity in US violations of international law!
The Central Board of FOR notes that even the Norwegian government has been forced to acknowledge that the US military intervention that led to the kidnapping of Venezuela’s internationally legitimate president, Nicolas Maduro, is a violation of international law.
In advance of the aggression, Norway has sought to play a role in preparing public opinion for the regime change operation in Venezuela by misusing Alfred Nobel’s will to award the 2025 prize to the far-right Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Machado.
Now this work seems in vain, as Trump leaves her no honor. He was unusually honest when he pointed out at his press conference on Saturday that Machado does not have significant popular support in Venezuela.
Instead of installing a puppet, the US is betting on using the threat of naked military aggression to force Venezuela’s leaders to accept US demands. Trump states outright that the goal is to «take back» Venezuela’s oil resources, which were previously controlled by American oil companies.
The disappointment is therefore great in other Western capitals, not because the US is once again violating international law, but because it is being done in a way that makes it impossible to maintain the myth that this is anything other than neocolonialism.
The fact that Norway and other Western countries are now raising a mild finger of reproach at the US violation of international law will have no effect on the US’s future conduct. Those who wish to preserve international law must contribute to isolating and thereby actively weakening the US.
An important part of this is to support the struggle to stop the US’s most important ally, Israel, from being able to implement its genocidal plans to annex Palestine.
An international boycott that suffocates Israel’s economy will force the US to pick up an even larger part of the bill, and thus weaken the country’s ability to maintain this support, and to carry out military aggression in other parts of the world.
Another part of this is that Norway must stop picking up a large part of the bill for the proxy war against Russia in Ukraine. By using large parts of the Oil Fund for this war, Norway is helping to keep one of the US’s rivals on the world stage occupied. This is important for the US to have been able to take liberties with attacks on Iran in violation of international law, and now Venezuela.
By remaining allied with the US through NATO, and by contributing to a massive European rearmament directed at Russia, Norway is contributing both to American weapons industry earning large profits, and to the US being able to gain free rein to reestablish itself as colonial master throughout the Americas.
FOR therefore demands that Norway immediately:
- Terminates all military-technological cooperation with the US
- Withdraws from NATO
- Imposes a total boycott of Israel with a complete ban on all trade and all investments in Israel
- Stops all military aid to Ukraine
- Implements drastic cuts in military appropriations instead of rearmament
